Music lovers, melody makers, appreciators, collectors, the music community and vinyl lovers, Record Store Day has finally arrived in Singapore. For the very first time in Singapore, Record Store Day was celebrated through a series of intimate and special events well attended by music fans and the music community. To kick the weekend off, fashion label Fred Perry invited the team from #vinyloftheday and Vinylicious Records to specially curate the Fred Perry Laurel Wreath Collection Shop with an exclusive vinyl exhibition of their all time favorite vinyl collection before closes its doors for relocation. With records dating back to the 60's through to the present day, the exhibition launched with an invite only preview on Friday, 19 April and is now open to the public, from 20th to 28th April. The excitement continued with a long line at Vinylicious Records the following day as vinyl collectors and music fans arrived early to get their hands on the highly anticipated Record Store Day only releases. With exclusive and limited edition pressings up for grabs (Tame Impala, Notorious BIG, The Strokes, Mile Davis, just to name a few), it was the interaction, smiles and friendly chatter at a record store made it an amazing experience for many. To wrap up Record Store Day in Singapore, nothing else would close the series of events up better than a vinyl only party "Wax on Wax Off" at Loof. Along with good company, cold beer, whiskey, margaritas, friendly vibes and music served by Singapore's finest crews, Funk Bast*rd and MWEIBEL from music label DARKER THAN WAX, Kentaro Taniguchi from Mugic Soundsystem and Darren Dubwise representing #vinyloftheday, it was a night of funk, soul, dope beats, house and smiling faces to wrap up an amazing and busy weekend for music lovers in Singapore. Check out the videos of the festivities over the weekend and we're already looking forward to celebrating Record Store Day in 2014!
